
On Saturday Morning, April 22nd, Brooklyn Broadway Jame Masjid And Islamic Center was heavily damaged by a fire which started in the deli shop, below, located on the corner of Ralph and Gates avenue, in Brooklyn, New York.
At approximately 5:59 a.m the fire department was notified of a fire at Brooklyn Broadway Islamic Center. The fire crews arrived at the scene, an hour and a half later at 7:30 am the fire was extinguished.

Building owner Gulzar Hossain spoke of the fire and the damage caused by the blaze, “We saw a very rapid eruption, the whole mosque is damaged. They had to cut off the roof.” Officials of the mosque are requesting the public to aid them in rebuilding the mosque in time for Ramadan. They launch a campaign on LaunchGood requesting for $50,000, they were able to collect almost $25,000 of their required goal from 376 supporters.
The fire started below at the Sunshine Express Deli but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
