A Muslim-owned Turkish restaurant is proving to everyone that real heroes don't wear capes. They are offering a free three-course meal to the homeless and elderly, because "No one eats alone on a Christmas Day".
The eatery named Shish restaurant located in, Halfway Street, Sidcup, London, posted a message on their Facebook wall and in front of their restaurant which read, "No one eats alone on a Christmas Day! We are here to sit with you. 3-course meal for the homeless from 12-6pm. Any homeless or elderly are welcomed."
They encouraged their followers to share the message and they eventually garnered over 1,000 likes and almost 3,500 shares.
The three-course meal which the 66-seat restaurant will be serving includes a starter of Soup and Cacik(a salty yogurt dip similar to Tzatziki), the main course is a choice between vegetarian casserole or chicken shish and for dessert Turkish rice pudding.
Hasan Masud, a worker at the restaurant told Buzzfeed, “lots of people stay home alone for Christmas… They don’t need to. They can come here and have some fun.”
